Brazil, the only Portuguese-speaking country in South America, has the largest economy (measured in Gross Domestic Product) in Latin America. Its agricultural market is huge, and the market for IT technical equipment is growing significantly every year.
The process for obtaining a homologation approval certificate comprises 3 steps: testing, intermediary approval (OCD), and ANATEL approval certification. Latin America Regulatory Compliance Group can help you with the entire process from start to finish.
In-country testing is required for all products which connect to the Public Network, utilize radiofrequencies, or are considered Data Networking Equipment. Examples of these kinds of equipments are network routers with E1 WAN ports, WiFi 802.11abgn access points, quad-band or tri-band GSM or CDMA cellular phones, switches, or Bluetooth headsets, to name a few.
There are a number of OCDs (“Designated Certification Body”) in Brazil which initially categorize the equipment to be approved. They review the test reports submitted by the test laboratory and issue their Certificate of Conformity. The COC, test reports, and other supporting documentation is then submitted to ANATEL for its final review.
ANATEL, the Brazilian Telecom Agency, reviews the documentation and makes a final determination for approval and certification.
Brazil is one of four countries in Latin America which require that a legal representative hold the type approval certificate. If you do not have official representation in Brazil, LARCG's office in São Paulo can be a holder of your certificates in the country.
Whether you utilize LARCG as Certificate Holder or a local representative company of your choice, we will create your product label, including required artwork and barcode. If your chosen Legal Representative is not registered with GS1, we can assist with that and also in the supply of EAN number to obtain the model’s official barcode.
