PANAMA - ASEP Regulatory Compliance

We suggest product registration with the Ministry of Communications in Panama. Panama is quickly becoming a telecommunications crossroads between North and South America, Europe and the Pacific Rim.

All equipment that uses radio frequencies must comply with the Plan Nacional de Atribución de Frecuencias ("PNAF" - Table of Allocation of Frequencies) in order to be accepted by the government agency in Panama, the 'Ente Regulador de los Servicios Públicos de Panama'.

There are products like cordless phones, intercommunicators, radio control devices that must meet specifications established in order to be approved for introduction in Panama. If not approved, they can not be legal sold in the Panama territory.

802.11a & 802.11b is intended for wireless LAN products operating using the Spread Spectrum technology. The PNAF allows this technology to operate in the following frequency bands: 902-928 MHz, 1,427-1452MHz, 1492 - 1508 MHz, 2,400 - 2,483.5 MHz (2.4 GHz); 3,420 - 3,500 MHz and 5,725 - 5,850 MHz.  There are some requirements in order to operate this equipments in Panama. For example, power limiting, antenna gain limiting, ERP (effective radiated power), etc, all have specific requirements.
