On July 17th, 2025, The Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) published that the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFETEL) will be dissolved and its operations and functions be transferred to the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency (Agencia de Transformación Digital y Telecomunicaciones).
This new legislation will be of public record and establishes regulation for the use and allocation of the radio spectrum, public telecommunications networks, deployment and access to active and passive infrastructure, as well as orbital (satellite) resources.
Although the resources of the Institute (IFETEL) will be transferred to the Agency for Digital Transformation and Telecommunications, matters and procedures currently in process with IFETEL will continue to be processed by that Agency. As of the date of the decree, however, all formalities and procedures are suspended for 60 working days.
